About me

My name’s Andrea Picciau (it’s pronounced pee-cha-hu, with the stress on the a). I work on software for scientific computing and parallel computer architectures such as GPUs, multi-core CPUs, and computer clusters. In particular, I am interested in linear algebra and optimization algorithms.

Currently, I am a senior software engineer in test at MathWorks UK, in the Parallel Computing Toolbox team. I am responsible for the quality of MATLAB’s GPU software for numerical algorithms and deep learning.

Before working at MathWorks, I did a PhD in Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London, where I worked on low-level optimizations of sparse linear algebra algorithms for GPUs.
